About the event

You are welcome to join us - a group of eating disorder researchers with a range of lived and living experiences and professional backgounds -  for a webinar talk and Q&A relating to our recent publication, Discordant conceptualisations of eating disorder recovery and their influence on the construct of terminality

This paper represents an attempt to address critical conceptual gaps in the literature on longstanding eating disorders. It aims to encourage further conversations, research, and interrogation of how concepts such as recovery, duration, perceived futility, hope, and agency are understood and operationalised in the context of eating disorders. Ultimately, we hope this will lead to improved care, better outcomes, and greater justice in the field.

To facilitate some of these conversations and offer more insights into our research, we are hosting this webinar for anyone who would like to attend. We will discuss some of our motivations for writing the paper, offer reflections, and welcome questions.

The webinar will take place at the following interntional times on Friday 12th July, 2024:

1:30-3pm CDT

2:30-4pm EDT

 3:30-5pm ADT

7:30-9pm BST

 4:30-6am AEST (Saturday 13th July)

You will receive the link to join via Zoom upon signing up, which will also be sent to you the day before the event as a reminder. A recording of the event will also be made available afterward, and it will be sent to everyone whether or not you attend Live. There is also an option to submit questions in advance via the space indicated on the sign-up form.

If you have any questions in advance about attending or if there is anything we can do to make it easier for you to participate, please do get in touch.  We are looking forward to it!

Rosiel Elwyn, Marissa Adams, Sam L. Sharpe, Scout Silverstein, Andrea LaMarre, James Downs, and C. Bair Burnette
